A Smarter Approach for Migrating IBM MQ from Developer License to Production License

By Naveen Heroorkar posted yesterday

A Smarter Approach for Migrating IBM MQ from Developer License to Production License:

When you use IBM MQ, some developers begin their adoption with the Developer Edition to try out capabilities, set up and develop configurations and prototype solutions. But when it comes to moving things in production “IBM MQ does not have an approach to upgrade Developer License to Production License!”

This means users are typically required to uninstall the Developer Edition and reinstall the Production versionSo, what’s the alternative?

A Smarter Solution is side by side migration: In side by side migration, you install the production version of IBM MQ alongside an Developer version. The queue managers continue to be associated with the Developer version until you are ready to migrate them to the Production version.

Follow the instruction for side by side migration

Developer Edition is intended solely for development purposes, and due to licensing constraints, it cannot be converted to the Production Edition.

Would it be appropriate to update the setmqprd command to handle this situation too? Or is there some reason why that can't be done?

Yes, The commend setmqprd is to convert Trial license to Production

Does this mean that the setmqprd command only works if you are migrating from a trial and not from a developer edition?
