As cyber resilience continues to be a top priority for IBM Z clients, IBM Z Cyber Vault plays a critical role in enabling secure, immutable, point-in-time backups to ensure your business can recover in the event of a cyber attack. Today, we're excited to announce three major enhancements that significantly expand its reach and capabilities across IBM Z environments.
1. Stand-alone LCP Manager: IBM Z Cyber Vault Automation Now Available for Non-GDPS Clients
For the first time, LCP Manager is available as a stand-alone offering, enabling clients who are not currently using GDPS for high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) to benefit from its powerful automation capabilities. This is a game-changer for organizations implementing IBM Z Cyber Vault solutions, allowing them to automate Cyber Vault operations—such as creating a snapshot of the production environment, scheduled recovery and validation of snapshots, and restoration back into a production environment after an incident — without requiring a full GDPS HA/DR deployment.
This new flexibility lowers the barrier to entry for cyber resilience automation and helps clients accelerate their journey toward a more secure and recoverable IBM Z environment.
Full LCP capability will be available in Stand-alone LCP Manager. The initial GA will support Metro Mirror 2-site and Metro Mirror 3-site topologies with a physically isolated vault. GDPS manages the replication into the vault via Global Mirror, enabling complete flexibility in the location of the vault environment.

2. Threat Detection for z/OS (TDz) Integration: Policy-Driven Automation from TDz Notifications
We're also introducing LCP Manager integration with IBM Threat Detection for z/OS (TDz). This enhancement allows LCP Manager to respond automatically to TDz notifications, triggering policy-based automation actions that can create out-of-cycle copies, quiesce additional backups, and perform other protective actions.
This marks the first step toward a rapid, machine-driven detection and response process designed to minimize client exposure in the event of a data breach. By enabling the platform to react to identified threats significantly faster than any human could, it will enhance overall cyber resilience and operational agility. This capability will be available in both GDPS LCP Manager and Stand-alone LCP Manager.

3. GDPS Solutions Manager (GSM) Support for LCP Manager: Initial Topology Coverage
GDPS Solutions Manager (GSM) now supports LCP Manager in GDPS Metro Global 4-site topologies, including both physical and virtual isolation configurations. This enables clients leveraging the new GSM capability for consolidation to deploy LCP Manager as part of their GSM plex.
These enhancements reflect our commitment to making IBM Z Cyber Vault automation more accessible, responsive, and adaptable to evolving client needs. Whether you're just starting your Cyber Vault journey or looking to integrate threat detection into your automation strategy, GDPS LCP Manager is ready to help.
