Today I’m delighted to announce the release of the new IBM Z Cyber Vault Environment Licensing solution. This new solution is designed to help simplify the software licensing requirements for a Cyber Vault deployment.

With the rapid growth of cyber incidents and the new regulations being developed in different regions, many enterprises are now rolling out Cyber Vault deployments. These are based on a separate, secured environment that can be used for validating and restoring immutable point-in-time backups such as Safeguarded Copy backups provided by IBM’s DS8000 storage device. This enables a business to respond and recover from a cyber incident far faster than before.

However, one challenge with Cyber Vault deployments can be the overall software cost, because the entire production software stack must be mirrored in the vault to fully validate a backup or perform ad-hoc forensic analysis.

IBM believes that Cyber Vault solutions are critically important for our clients and so today, we are announcing a new, specially licensed solution that will enable all our IBM Z clients to run their full production IBM Z software stack in a Cyber Vault environment at a fixed price dependant only on the size of the Cyber Vault environment. This will cover all IBM Z software run in production, both One-Time-Change (OTC) and Monthly License Change (MLC).
