IBM is pleased to announce extended availability of Semeru Runtime for Java Version 8 from Nov 2026 to Dec 2030. The IBM Semeru Runtimes support page is now updated to reflect this additional four years of availability for Version 8.
By extending availability for Version 8, IBM will continue to release security and bug fix updates on a quarterly cadence until Dec 2030, publicly and with no cost. Customers with entitled support for IBM Semeru Runtime Version 8 via an actively licensed bundling IBM product or IBM Runtimes for Business can continue to raise support tickets and receive defect fixes where appropriate.
IBM recognises that many customers still run Java 8 based applications and require additional time to manage the lifecycle of these applications or their migration to newer versions of Java.
While we encourage all our customers to move to more modern/recent LTS versions of Java that are released every two years, this availability extension announcement for Semeru Runtime Version 8 gives customers an extra four years to help plan and implement a smooth transition from Version 8 to the latest versions of IBM Semeru Runtimes.
