IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for z/OS 6.1 Fix Pack 5

IBM Z® OMEGAMON® AI for z/OS® 6.1 Fix Pack 5, APAR OA67056 and PTF UJ96455 has now shipped.

This deliverable provides the following new enhancements to the product:

  • Increased zIIP Offloading support
  • RMF currency
  • Multi-tab Enterprise and Sysplex Navigation

Increased zIIP Offloading support:

Prior to this deliverable, IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for z/OS 6.1 performed limited zIIP offloading for some of its DASD data collection processing.   In this deliverable, zIIP offloading has been significantly increased to now include the data collection of address space CPU data and the data retrieval of system real storage utilization data.   This increases the zIIP usage by the product while also reducing the processing load on the standard processors.   The increase in zIIP usage and reduction in standard processor usage will vary depending on a number of factors including the availability of zIIP processors, system workload, the number of address spaces that are running on an LPAR and the amount of real storage that is in use for an LPAR.  Existing OMEGAMON AI for z/OS configuration parameter KM5ZIIPOFFLOAD=YES|NO enables/disables zIIP offloading  (YES is default).

RMF currency:

Support has been added for recent additions to the RMF Monitor III reports related to dedicated memory reporting. These changes involve updates to the Real Storage Utilization History and KM5 Storage Summary History tables and the workspaces in the e3270UI that use these tables to report the new dedicated memory metrics.

Support has been added to the Address Space CPU Utilization table to include indicators for address spaces running z/OS Containers or z/OS Control Plane Appliances (zCPA) and for a new metric for Job Step CPU Limit percent.

Multi-tab Enterprise and Sysplex Navigation:

KM5STRTK alternative first workspace updated to support Multi-tab navigation for Sysplex and Enterprise displays.
