IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Networks 6.1 is a new standalone product offering that delivers new Machine Learning (ML) capabilities along with the same ability to monitor and manage your z/OS network utilization and performance as was available previously with IBM Z OMEGAMON Network Monitor 5.6.  The new ML capabilities are brought to the product with IBM Z OMEGAMON AI Insights 1.1 and integration with IBM Z OMEGAMON Data Provider.

The IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Networks 6.1 product package includes the following components:

OMEGAMON AI for Networks 6.1 – HRKN610

OMEGAMON Integration Monitor DE – HRKD560

OMNIMON Base  – HKOB750

OMEGAMON Data Provider - HKOA110

IBM Discovery Library Adapter – HIZD320

The following are the functional enhancements that are new to IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Networks 6.1:

  • Advanced anomaly detection with IBM Z OMEGAMON AI Insights 1.1
  • z/OS 3.1 Support
  • Usability enhancements in the e3270UI

Advanced Anomaly Detection with OMEGAMON AI Insights

Advanced anomaly detection is now available to quickly recognize unexpected network activity via the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics provided by IBM Z OMEGAMON AI Insights 1.1.    Historical network usage data is analyzed by IBM Z OMEGAMON AI Insights 1.1 to build a model of the network usage over time.   Model is then used to analyze daily network usage data streamed from IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Networks 6.1 via OMEGAMON Data Provider to detect irregular usage the day it happens!

Usability Enhancements in e3270UI

A focus area for the IBM Z OMEGAMON AI for Networks 6.1 product is to improve the usability of the e3270UI user experience.   The initial support includes more and selectable ALIAS commands that are both annotated to describe their usage and selectable to allow direct navigation, and a restructuring of the zERT summary workspaces to distinguish between secure and unsecure sessions and to provide more detailed summary information for each type of security session (TLS, SSH, IPSec).

z/OS 3.1 Support

The product is able to run seamlessly on z/OS 3.1 like prior z/OS releases.   Additionally, currency support is provided with recent TCP/IP updates for SSH Server/Client Certificate Key Types and Signature Methods, as well as, TLS Server/Client Handshake Signatures and TLS Negotiated Key Share.
