As we move into 2025, I wanted to take the opportunity to summarize the OMEGAMON Db2 enhancements delivered in 2024. 

The Blog is structured according to our quarterly release cadence and is listing customer ideas we implemented, Db2 Function Level currency items, Db2 Currency items and other product extensions or enhancements. 

As we move forward into 2025, there will be more Blogs on the following topics, which will go into more details. And of course all the “good stuff” coming in 2025 😊.

Q1 2024 enhancement PTF PH57910/UI96266

• DB2ZOMEGA-I-43: (addendum) Application Trace Facility (ATF) support in Enhanced 3270 UI:
  • Add ATF start option from E3270UI thread workspaces.
  • Add ATF SQL index display without repeats.
  • Convert small, big and large integers in ATF Host variables contents from HEX display to readable format.
  • Improved usability when defining trace data set and browsing trace data 
• DB2ZOMEGA-I-66: Support double-word binary data filtering for FIELD command in Batch RECTRACE.
• OMEG4ZOS-I-142: Add long Userid, Transaction name and Workstation name to Batch RECTRACE report  and Performance Database for IFCID 172  (Deadlock) and 196 (Timeout).

Db2 13 for z/OS FL504 exploitation

• Db2 13 Epic 7888:
  • Add package auto-bind and incremental bind statistics in Enhanced 3270 UI workspaces and enable for Persistent Data Store processing.
  • Add package auto-bind and incremental bind statistics in Batch STATISTICS, ACCOUNTING and SYSPARMS report sets as well as Performance Database (PDB) and CSV processing.
• Db2 13 Epic 18665:
  • Complement UTILITY HISTORY with option "OBJECT" in Batch RECTRACE and SYSPARMS report sets as well as add support for  PDB and CSV processing.

Other enhancements

Enhanced 3270 UI

• Thread History and real-time:  added workspaces to show Package details of a thread.
• Thread History: added  "Accelerator" details information.
• Thread History: added "Parallel Task" details information.
• Real-time: new ZPARMs “STATIME_DDF”  is now supported.

Batch Reporting

• PROFILE ID (IFCID 319 field QW0319PI) is now shown in RECTRACE and AUDIT report sets when a MONITOR CONNECTIONS FOR SECURITY warning or exception is  triggered, thus giving you the proper Db2 Profile table ID that is used to set up the exception.

Performance Warehouse

• The default OP-Buffer size for PWH process definitions changed  from 512K to 32MB.  The lowest supported OP-Buffer size is now 256K.

Q2 2024 enhancement PTF PH60055/UI97587

• DB2ZOMEGA-I-43: (addendum) Application Trace Facility (ATF) support in Enhanced 3270 UI:
  • Minimum DSN size for trace data set is changed to 50MB.
  • Quoted DSN names will be rejected.
  • Added UOW mini plan details. 
  • Added UOW wait details.
• DB2ZOMEGA-I-69: Support for additional detail about an active SQL statement in real time SQL Details in the Enhanced 3270 UI workspace KDPTSQLT (new section "Active SQL Details").
• DB2ZOMEGA-I-70: Class 3 suspension counters are now part of  the Batch Performance Database table DB2PM_STAT_AGGRACC.
• DB2ZOMEGA-I-71: Correlation token and original application user ID are now shown in the Enhanced 3270 UI thread long name workspace KDPTHRDN.
  Note: Db2 12 PTF UI97224 and/or Db2 13 PTF UI97225 should be installed for proper display of the correlation token.

Configuration

• Facilitate better migration for version 5.4.0 Classic Near-Term History configurations and also isolate the Enhanced 3270 Thread History data set allocation default allocations using new parameters KD2_PF_HIS_VSAM_CUSTOMIZE, KD2_PF_HIS_VSAM_PREFIX, KD2_PF_THRDHIS_MCLAS, KD2_PF_THRDHIS_SCLAS and KD2_PF_THRDHIS_VOLUME.

Enhanced 3270 UI

• Real-time: extend “Package Summary” view as workspace KDPTHSPK. This enhancement will allow you to see current and past Db2 Package executions of the active thread. Past package executions are tied into the summary detail using the package detail information from IFCID 346.
• Real-time: support “Distributed Thread Detail” in as new workspace KDPTHDD2 supporting multiple remote locations.

Batch Reporting

• Batch reporter CPU savings - the I/O processing of all report sets has been optimized, thus saving general purpose CPU.  While “mileage can vary”, double digit percentage savings have been observed in the measurements performed.
• The correlation token (QWHCCTKN) is added to the ACCOUNTING and RECTRACE report set and to the ACCOUNTING FILE Performance Database tables.
• New security type "Authentication token" (QW0319AT) is added to the AUDIT report set.
• New subsystem parameter “STATIME_DDF” is added to the RECTRACE and SYSPARMS report sets.
• Lock type "Auto-bind phase-in lock" (IFCID 21 field QW0021PH) is added to Batch LOCKING report set.
• New data section QW02257 (“SERVICEABILITY FOR XSLOTS”) is added to the RECTRACE report for IFCID 225.
• Additional fields are added to the IFCID 314 RECTRACE report set for Authorization exit parameters.

• DB2ZOMEGA-I-72: Allow Performance Expert Client users to cancel multiple threads at a time.
