App reviews in MaaS360

End User App Reviews has always been at the core of MaaS360 app distribution workflow. This has enabled the end-users to leave their feedback in the form of " Review comments" and / or as a rating on a feedback scale of 1 to 5, based on their interactions with the app. It also helps admins to better understand the “Ease of use,  UI, UX experience & the functionality / bugs” that a particular app provides. This helps  MaaS360 administrators to make better choice of the apps they distribute and achieve the desired functionality.

These Ratings & Reviews appear in the MaaS360 app catalogue for every app the admin distributes and is visible to all end users who are entitled to receive the app. Also, these reviews are visible to the administrators under the “App Summary” section on MaaS360 portal.

Why the new settings?

Content Moderation has played vital part when it comes to open forums & discussion channels and helps users to avoid the toxicity & abuse that’s plaguing the internet as a whole. MaaS360 being a MDM solution provider does not provide any content moderation mechanism for the app reviews section.

Off Late, we have received multiple requests from our customers to help mitigate the abusive / offensive app reviews in the app catalogue comments section. We at MaaS360 took this up on priority and came up with a solution for the administrators to overcome this issue in the following ways :

1. Global Settings :

   1. A new Global setting has been introduced in SETUP --> Settings --> App Settings --> Basic --> App Review Settings. When disabled, 
      
      1. End user will not be able to read / write app reviews / ratings as a whole
      2. Enterprise Rating Column is not Visible from customise columns section
      3. End users upon installing the app that has been distributed via IBM MaaS360 will no longer be able to submit the review or rate the said app in app catalogue.
      4. 2. Bulk Delete App Reviews  
   
   We have also introduced a new way to delete all the user reviews using a "Delete All Reviews" under App Summary -> Reviews from users section. This will also remove the reviews from device app catalogue
