What is an IBM Z Career Connection?
An IBM Z Career Connection, or ZCC, is an event designed for students to get their first taste of what a mainframe is. They’ll not only learn what these machines do and how they interact with them daily, but they’ll also hear from you, the client looking for skills! You get to talk to the students about how you use the platform, what you look for in candidates, and what they can do on the day of the event to kick off their career with you when the time is right. We will also introduce them to the IBM Z Xplore learning platform where they can get hands on experience building job relevant mainframe skills and earning industry recognized badges.
Where do these events happen?
The IBM Z Skills team regularly runs ZCCs at universities that we have had clients express interest in hiring from in the past. Below, you can see what we have planned for the upcoming school year as well as past events! If there is a university that you would like to run a ZCC at, please reach out to the IBM Z Skills team and we will work with you to organize this event! This is a great way for you to start sourcing talent from a location near your headquarters or data center. Reach out to the zSkills team here by clicking this sentence.
That’s not to say you can’t run one of these yourselves! While we are happy to support, we have rounded up all of the docs to help you get started spreading IBM Z to students all by yourself. Click this link, and scroll down, to access the ZCC in a box starter kit. If there is something you think is missing from this starter kit, we are constantly making improvements and would appreciate any and all feedback.
