IBM Storage Defender 2.0.16 Data Protection Updates

The latest release of IBM Storage Defender 2.0.16 brings powerful new capabilities to help enterprises protect data across hybrid environments. This update introduces expanded platform support, enhanced cloud integration, stronger security defaults, and new deployment options for compliance-sensitive environments. Below are the key data protection updates:

Data Management Service (DMS) Updates (2.0.16)

  • Enhanced Single Sign-On Support
- In addition to Active Directory, IBM Storage Defender now supports configuration of SSO using Microsoft Entra ID, Okta SSO, and CyberArk Identity Platform

Data Protect Cluster Updates (7.2.2_u2)

  • Expanded Support of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization
- Protect Red Hat OpenShift VMs and containers using the same policy-driven workflows as existing data source
 
  • Flexible recovery, whether using a preferred hypervisor or a mixed vendor strategy, including support for VMware ESXi, Red hat OpenShift Virtualization, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Nutanix AHV
    • Increased Data Security for AWS and Microsoft Azure

              New cloud support features include:

    - Amazon EC2 UEFI boot mode support for modern VM configurations
    - CloudArchive v2 and CloudArchive Direct v2 for improved performance between the Data Protect cluster and remote Amazon S3-compatible storage during garbage collection for increased backup and recovery speeds
    - Next-Gen Cloud Edition clusters provide stronger default data security by providing immutability with object lock for AWS and Azure
     

               Security and resiliency improvements include:

    - Cluster-level encryption now enabled by default for new clusters
    - Enhanced metadata encryption ensures consistent protection across all data layers
       
      • Redesigned experienced for upgrades and patching of clusters now enabling real time tracking of updates such as monitoring the status of each node, completion times, and any issues that arise during the process
           
          • Additional Certified Hardware Platforms

                    IBM Data Protect now supports the following certified platforms:

          - HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen11 (AMD-based)
          - HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 (Intel-based)
          - Cisco UCS C240 M6 All Flash (Intel-based, high-density)
