IBM z/OS Connect support is now available with IBM z/OS Container Platform (zOSCP) providing containerized z/OS UNIX System Services applications to z/OS. As a z/OS Connect customer, the new IBM zOSCP is a game changer.
What does this mean for you? This means your containerized z/OS Connect API images (OpenAPI 3) can now be built and run on z/OS address spaces in isolated environments, utilizing the z/OS security, resource management, and networking support that come with z/OS.
You now have the best of both worlds: all the security, resource management, scaling and resilience of z/OS with the ease of building and deploying containerized z/OS applications (built to the Open Container Initiative (OCI) image specification), enabling integration with z/OS Assets, data and transactions in an enterprise-wide hybrid cloud solution.
The following image shows how you build your z/OS Connect API image from your z/OS Connect API project and the downloaded z/OS Connect server image, and then deploy your new z/OS Connect API image to your IBM z/OS Container Platform (zOSCP) with Podman. For information on how to build and deploy a z/OS Connect API to your IBM zOSCP, see Installing and uninstalling an IBM z/OS Connect API image with Podman.
