A new step-by-step tutorial (
Create a mortgage portal with EGL Rich UI) has been added to the Rational Business Developer (RBD) version 8 Information Center, and will also appear automatically in the RBD help if you have the option to "include remote help" enabled in your preferences (Windows > Preferences > Help > Content). This tutorial was originally written for EGL Community Edition, but has been updated for version 8. It shows the basic steps for creating a rich, multi-tier application with EGL.

great for anyone new to EGL or just wanting to learn how to use some of the new features in version 8!

This tutorial demonstrates the following concepts:
- Developing a portal-style web UI
- Creating a web service with EGL and invoking from a web application
- Enhancing the UI with rich widgets, including currency text fields and pie charts
- Integrating third-party JavaScript widgets, such as a Google map widget
- Invoking a third-party web service
- Packaging the application as a standard web application (.war) and deploying
- Passing information around the application using EGL's infobus
