Data virtualization is a data access methodology that presents data in memory in a relational format for consumption without requiring the user to have knowledge of where or how the data is stored or formatted. It provides a data services layer between the data source and the application, delivering data in real-time, while eliminating the cost and complexity of the traditional ETL processes.
