Welcome to the new location of the z/VSE Blog within the IBM Z and LinuxONE Community on IBM Community!
It is a honor for me to take over the responsibility for the z/VSE Blog from Ingolf. He retired at the end of last year. I would be able to share a lot of stories about Ingolf - how he saved the world many times - but this is not my task. Therefore I just want to use the opportunity to say thanks to him: Thank you for all the advice and guidance I received over the past decade! The z/VSE team in the Böblingen Lab will miss your brilliant ideas, your awesome work, and your dedication!
Let me introduce myself: My name is Jens Remus. I joined the IBM Germany Lab in Böblingen over 10 years ago as software developer. Since then I have been working in z/VSE Development and Support. Some of you may already have been in contact with me in z/VSE Support.
My main areas in z/VSE are the Supervisor, Tape I/O including parts of z/VSE Virtual Tape (VTAPE), FCP/SCSI, the z/VSE Capacity Measurement Tool (CMT), and the z/VSE Installation Disk Utility (VSEIDISK). In between I have also done some development for CICS Transaction Server for z/VSE, where I ported and adapted parts of the support for Channels and Containers as well as parts of the support for HTTP/1.1 from CICS TS for z/OS to z/VSE.
In a subsequent post I will provide information on how to setup your personal RSS feed in your IBM Community profile, in case you would like to follow my posts using a RSS reader.
Walking in Ingolf's footsteps as blog author is quite a challenge. Ingolf wrote and published a stunning 1259 posts in his z/VSE Blog over the last seven years. For a start I strive to publish at least one post per month. Topics will be z/VSE news as well as hints and tips from z/VSE Development and Support.
I would appreciate your feedback and topic suggestions either as comment to this post or via the z/VSE contact form.
I hope you will enjoy the new location and my future blog posts.
Regards,
Jens
