IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Python 3.13 is a port of the open-source Python Software Foundation (PSF) community 3.13 release. It is a 64-bit XPLINK application with enhancements for EBCDIC support. This popular Python open-source language helps you take advantage of z/OS platform to accelerate business transformation and modernization by enabling powerful frameworks for Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML), DevOps, and automation. The planned availability date is November 15, 2024.
What's new in the IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Python 3.13
Enabled for the IBM z/OS Container Platform
Open Enterprise SDK for Python 3.13 is now enabled in the z/OS Container Platform. This establishes a development environment that streamlines Python deployment, scalability, and management in a containerized environment.
Added to z/OS 3.1 as a bypassable requisite
IBM announced the addition of Open Enterprise SDK for Python along with IBM Z Open Automation Utilities (ZOAU) and IBM Open Enterprise Foundation for z/OS to z/OS 3.1 as bypassable requisites as of July 1st, 2024. This helps IBM Z clients adopt these emerging technologies to accelerate their mainframe modernization strategies. These offerings are now available at a no-charge license and with no-charge Software Subscription and Support (S&S).
