Starting Java on z/OS V8 SR6 FP36 (
link
) and V11.0.14.1 (
link
), we provided support for 31 / 64-bit interoperability to enable 64-bit Java development, while maintaining interoperability with 31-bit native libraries. This allows 31-bit native libraries to communicate with 64-bit Java applications.
Refer to these blog posts for different use cases:
Enterprise COBOL 6.4 delivers simplified COBOL/Java interoperability, AMODE 31/AMODE 64 interoperability, and support for the new IBM z16 hardware
Good news! 31-bit COBOL can now talk to 64-bit Java in IMS
