There's a problem with one of the critical applications in your storage environment. It's your job to investigate. In IBM Spectrum Control™, you check the performance of the volumes in the application. All looks fine. You look at the pool that contains those volumes. The response time is higher than you expect. Now you want to know what was it like at the same time last week.

IBM Spectrum Control makes it easy for you to compare performance metrics across different time ranges. Here's how:

1. Open a performance view for the resource in IBM Spectrum Control. For example, click Storage > Block Storage Systems. Right-click a storage system, then click View Performance.
2. In the performance view, click the metric that you want to analyze. For example, click Overall Response Time.
3. Click the Open in new window icon.
   
   
    
4. Drag the new performance view side-by-side with the first performance view.
5. In the new window, set the time range to one week earlier.
   
   
     The new performance view is updated to show the data from the previous week. You can easily compare the data for the two time periods.
   
    

   The response time of the pool was fine last week. Now you can focus your attention on investigating what happened in your storage environment around the time the response time changed.
