PAW - Share Content - A review

The first in a series of Reviews for Planning Analytics Workspace based content, this is a work in progress document that will be updated periodically as updates appear, the intention is to get more content out and ideas with Product Management shared,

Export

Export to PDF

  • Four page sizes available; letter, legal, A4, tabloid
  • Landscape or Portrait options (either or, not specified per page)

Email

Free text fields; send email to, Subject (optional), Message (optional)

File types to send; Image, PDF, Powerpoint

  • Free text fields persist when email is sent
  • Generate images needs attention to ensure book/ widget to export is in context when selected
  • No record of what emails have been sent?
  • Can we get (better) control of the formatting of exports

Burst Export

  • Export group can be set to whole book or individual tabs
  • Maximum available exports set at 50
  • Can export to PDF or PowerPoint
  • Can we get better control of the formatting of exports
  • Can we mass export files with (Synced) Element Names to File Manager?
  • Can we mass export files to Email Addresses associated with an element name?
  • Can we automate Burst Export activity?

PA Workspace: customize output format of export / email / burst export via "share"

The function is from a UI perspectives almost not usable. The result has to be customizable like

  • Footer
    • font (type, size, color)
    • optional text with snippets of date, time, name of user, link etc. (like in MS Word), page number
  • Header
    • Customizable title (free text, name of book or empty)
    • logo
    • text like "confidential"
  • Selection of individual pages for the book (select single tabs or ALL)

As alternative: do implement NOTHING and the book-creator has to customize everything directly in the PAW book with textboxes etc. But then there should be the option to DEACTIVATE the current texts/links/dates that appear directly & automatically in the export result.

Some good insight Ed.

There is a lot of work in this area as I think very few use the functionality, especially the export to PDF and bulk due to the issues raised.

What is also annoying is that more often than not, the images exported still have the throbber icon shown in the widgets leading one to wonder if the numbers were still being refreshed or if those shown were in fact the correct ones.
