Back in February, IBM acquired IntelliMagic, a Netherlands-based company specialized in optimizing z/OS system performance using analytics to proactively manage z/OS environments and help mitigate disruptions, reduce costs and support reliability and availability, as announced by Skyla Loomis here.

In few weeks, the first IBM branded release of the main offering, IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS, was available on the market, you can read more about it here.

Not a surprise that some of the users of the IntelliMagic products were a bit concerned about what was going to change as side effect of the IBM acquisition. They were used to a very friendly and at the same time professional relationship with IntelliMagic team … as well as they were used to frequent updates of the product with enhancements and new features, delivered regularly every 4 weeks.

I am happy to share that even in the “new world”, IntelliMagic an IBM company, the product continue to be improved regularly and last May 31^st a new update of the product was made available through the usual IBM channel (Fix central). It is the second update made available since the first GA, respecting the 4 weeks delivery schedule that was used for this product.

Below are the most important changes that are included in IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 1.1.0.2-ZIM-2024.5.0 :

1. Several changes have been made to the Navigation menu in IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 2024.5.0 to make those Topology views more accessible. A new Topology focal point has been added to the top-level Health viewpoint. All Topology views are now accessible from the Health viewpoint.
2. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 2024.5.0 adds the option to only include charts with an exception in a scheduled export.
3. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS 2024.5.0 introduces a Manage Scheduled Exports page where (User) Administrators can edit the timing of existing schedules, change the ownership of a schedule, or remove a schedule entirely. The Manage Scheduled Exports page can be found in the Admin section in the Options menu.
4. Support has been added for the ACCOUNTING selection on the APPLICATION command. This makes it possible to define applications for job data based on the field SMF30ACT. For example: APPLICATION 'myUsers', ACCOUNTING=('*MU*').
