Grow Your Audience at IBM TechXchange and Build Your Personal Brand on Social Media

The IBM TechXchange 2025 Conference is planning to offer more than 1500 breakout sessions, Tech Talks and Hands-on-Labs, along with Workshops, Demos and Roundtables in Orlando, Florida, October 6 - 9. This year, the catalog search system is better than ever, to help your audience find you, based on their role, product use and their topic interest. But you can help yourself enormously by using the latest techniques and strategies to leverage social media like a pro.

I recently asked PJ Catalano, IBM Z Architect and co-winner of the 2024 TechXchange Award for Excellence in Social Media, to distill some tips and tricks to promote sessions and expertise on common social media platforms.  It’s free, it’s effective and it’s pretty easy.

Every Speaker at IBM TechXchange has access to the Speaker Portal, where they can update their title and abstract, access speaker coaching resources, and download the Social Media kit.  The kit has an easy tool for creating a “Social Tile” – which is an image with TechXchange branding plus your photo, session number, date and time.

Once you’ve created your tile (or several), then push them out in all directions, following PJ’s great advice about hashtags, clever headlines and going beyond. Perhaps the best advice that PJ provided is to think of the full lifecycle of your TechXchange appearance, posting before the event, while you’re at the event, and even afterwards, to share your experience with the world.
