Introducing Enhanced Usage and Billing Visibility in NS1 Connect

By Claire ODonovan posted Thu May 01, 2025 02:48 PM

We are excited to share a significant update to NS1 Connect that is designed to empower our customers with greater control and transparency over their service usage and purchased entitlements.

What is new?

With this release, customers will have full visibility into their purchased entitlements and usage across metered services – both in the portal and via API. This enhancement helps eliminate surprises and supports smarter decision-making around capacity planning and expansion. Its key benefits include:

  • Clarity on usage and limits – you will now have a unified view of your purchased entitlements and your actual usage with NS1 Connect.
  • Preventing unexpected overages – customers can now track their usage relative to contractual limits, avoiding any sort of frustration from unexpected overage invoices.
  • Transparency across all consumables – ensuring complete visibility into all consumable entitlements. For example, customers utilizing our China network will now be able to track their China query usage against their allocated entitlement.

What is included?

  • Usage reporting for all metered services – including
    • Managed DNS query usage
    • China DNS query usage
    • RUM Traffic Steering decisions
    • Filter Chain usage
    • Records usage
    • Monitors usage
  • Adjusted query count reporting – for customers with NXD Waivers and/or DDoS overage protection.
  • Metric Visibility in the Portal and via API – integrate usage data directly into your existing monitoring and reporting tool via our API.
  • Daily and Network level visibility – understand your query usage patterns by day and by network. This helps to identify usage trends and to pinpoint peak traffic day spikes.
  • Billing period selection and Exporting – select the required billing period to view associated usage and entitlements. Usage data can be exported as a CSV file for deeper analysis.
