Red Hat® Ansible® Automation Platform
is a foundation for building and operating automation across an organization. It is a free, open-source application with some commercial options based on Python and YAML. It works agent-less, so there is no need to install and maintain agents on the Ansible endpoints. For the Ansible endpoints, a wide variety of operating systems is supported, including IBM AIX and IBM i. To learn more about Red Hat Ansible, you can watch the quick start video at
https://www.ansible.com/resources/videos/quick-start-video
.
To automate installation and administration tasks for SAP on AIX and IBM i, the SAP on Power team has published two Ansible collections just now:
Ansible Content for IBM Power Systems - AIX with SAP Software
at
https://galaxy.ansible.com/ibm/power_aix_sap
Ansible Content for IBM Power Systems - IBM i with SAP Software
at
https://galaxy.ansible.com/ibm/power_ibmi_sap
In their initial version, both collections cover four use cases that are frequently executed in typical SAP environment:
Installing or upgrading the SAP Host Agent
Start SAP instances
Stop SAP instances
Upgrade the kernel of an already existing SAP system
The collections are published under community support and will be maintained and extended by the SAP on Power team.

Hi Hubert,
for Red Hat, there are several collections available under https://galaxy.ansible.com/redhat_sap. I am not aware of any SLES collections, it is not in the scope of my team. As this is community driven, collections may be added in the future. You can easily locate what is available by going to https://galaxy.ansible.com/ and searching for SAP (or whatever subject you are interested in).
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels.
