What's new with IBM Fault Analyzer for z/OS® v14.1.14?
The IBM Fault Analyzer for z/OS® team is pleased to deliver another quarterly Continuous Delivery (CD) update; version 14.1.14.  This update includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • Fault Entry duplicate details can now be included as a separate row in the Fault Entry List display.  This allows users to review duplicate faults across time and in the context of other faults.  See Expanding and collapsing duplicate fault entries.

  • The new BATCHOPTS suboption, of the FAISPFopts option, allows users to specify alternatives to the default settings in the Batch Reanalysis Options display.  See BatchOpts.

  • The IEAVTSEL dump registration exit has been extended to allow the recording of SLIP dumps.

  • The new LangxCapture option writes source-level debugging information from a matching sidefile (compiler listing, SYSDEBUG, DWARF etc.) to the Fault Entry.  Reanalysis of Fault Entries will be able to display source information even if the associated application programs have been recompiled (i.e., where sidefiles no longer match).  See LangxCapture.

  • During interactive reanalysis, users can invoke the IBM File Manager for z/OS Db2 Browse panel from the IBM Fault Analyzer for z/OS Db2 Information panel to display the contents of Db2 tables.  See Primary option: Db2 Information.

  • The new CICSD command, allows users to display the previous CICS 3270 screen buffer.  The CICSD command captures the screen buffer state as it was during the time of Abend; including all colors and attributes.  See CICSD command.

Eclipse GUI (Client) changes:
The IBM File Manager for z/OS Eclipse Plug-in update is a new function release. The following notable enhancements have been delivered:

  • A new ALTER wizard for VSAM and non-VSAM data sets.  This provides the user with the ability to alter a dataset’s expiration date, storage and management classes, and share options.

  • IBM File Manager for z/OS compare options are now saved in the Remote Services view; removing the need to re-enter these options for subsequent comparisons.

  • CICS, Db2, IMS and MQ subsystem “live” icons are now displayed in the Remote Systems view; similar to already existing “live” icons in this view.

  • Queries for CICS, Db2, IMS and MQ can now be edited in the Remote Systems view.

Server (Host) changes:
The IBM File Manager for z/OS v14.1.14 host update is a service only release. The following notable changes have been delivered with the maintenance:

  • Support for the HOLD, FREE, HIDE, SHOW, ORDER, LHEX & WIDTH editor primary commands has been extended to IBM File Manager for z/OS for IMS.
  • Internal changes to support Eclipse client ALTER processing.
  • IAM encrypted files are now supported.
