Meet Roy Boxwell, a senior software architect from Software Engineering GmbH. He is a recipient of an IBM community award, and has been an IBM champion for three years, though he says it feels like it's been longer! Roy’s journey as an IBM Champion is a testament to innovation, technical mastery, and support for others in the tech community.
Roy is constantly sharing his expertise with the tech community. He’s active on the TechXchange community site, providing technical insight through bi-monthly blogs, and interacting with others on their posts. He also enjoys public speaking, often at IDUGs or RUGs. When asked what drives him to give back to the tech community and be an IBM Champion, he said: “I just love to share knowledge. Helping other people is paramount for me!”
His favorite IBM product is Db2 for z/OS, which he refers to as the best database management system in the world. Roy is a recurring attendee of IDUG conferences, the Central Canadian DB2 (CCDB2) user group, and the German GUIDES tech group. Out of all of these, his favorite would have to be CCDB2.
Roy said if he wasn’t working in tech, he would be an astronaut, aiming to land on Mars (but only if they had a 3270 emulator there of course!).
To those interested in becoming an IBM Champion, he offers this advice: “Dive in and take the chance—you will never regret it!”
