Our IBM TechXchange Dev Day: AI and Automation Unpacked virtual event, happening on June 25, is right around the corner! Our free virtual sessions offer three focused technical tracks to explore: AI Agents and Tools, AI on IBM Z, and Automation.
I spoke with a few of the session hosts about their job role and the content they’ll be sharing at their sessions, here’s what they had to say:
Elizabeth Joseph, Global Head, Open Source Program Office for IBM Z & LinuxONE, IBM
Session: Linux Fundamentals, Topped with a Touch of AI
Track: AI on IBM Z
Q: Can you describe your current role and the kinds of work you do on a day-to-day basis? How does your work relate to the software you'll be presenting?
Elizabeth: I lead the Open Source Program Office for IBM Z and LinuxONE. In this role, I get to work directly with open source software projects to help them understand the value of IBM Z and LinuxONE, and then get resources to develop their projects on the platform. But, I'm a Linux SRE by trade and have been working on Linux systems for almost 25 years. Throughout this time, I've had a focus on open-source software, so I have a passion for on-boarding new folks to Linux and making sure they're comfortable using it.
Q: Can you briefly describe the content you will be covering in your session/workshop?
Elizabeth: I'll begin with having folks sign up for a no-cost account on the IBM LinuxONE Community Cloud (with a special event code, don't sign up yet!) where I'll teach some Linux basics, so participants become comfortable with the concepts and environment. From there, I'll talk about some of the popular open source AI/ML tooling options available for the platform and give participants an opportunity to install them on their new virtual machine.
Q: How will attendees benefit from joining your session?
Elizabeth: Linux is the premier platform for AI/ML workloads these days, and I want people to walk away from this session with a better understanding of how to use it. On the AI/ML side, my gentle introduction to tooling available on the platform will help them ease into this ever-expanding world with some fundamentals.
Kunal Sawarkar, Distinguished Engineer and Chief AI Scientist, IBM
Session: Agentrix — Agents for threat remediation over Hashicorp vault and IBM Guardium, Agentrix—Multi agent reasoning system for enterprise workflows, and Agentrix—Decision Optimization Agents
Track: AI agents and tools
Q: Can you describe your current role and the kinds of work you do on a day-to-day basis? How does your work relate to the software you'll be presenting?
Kunal: I'm a Distinguished Engineer for GenAI for IBM’s Client and Ecosystem Engineering. I build Applied AI products that change the way enterprises work.
Q: Can you briefly describe the content you will be covering in your session/workshop?
Kunal: I will be covering Agentrix, an enterprise-focused platform to build, try, and tailor agents that target complex enterprise workflows.
Q: How will attendees benefit from joining your session?
Kunal: Discover how you can solve problems like decision management, threat detection, work order generation, vehicle maintenance, Kubernetes deployment, and digital sales, all using Multi-Agent reasoning systems
Lana Strazhkoba, AI Agents Program Manager, IBM
Session: Agentrix—Multi agent reasoning system for enterprise workflows
Track: AI agents and tools
Q: Can you describe your current role and the kinds of work you do on a day-to-day basis? How does your work relate to the software you'll be presenting?
Lana: I am an AI Agent Program Manager on the Ecosystem Engineering team, helping ISV partners identify IBM technologies to solve problems and explore new business models.
Q: Can you briefly describe the content you will be covering in your session/workshop?
Lana: I will be giving an overview of User Journey for the Agentix platform, including how AI Agents can be used to automate and enhance business workflows.
Q: How will attendees benefit from joining your session?
Lana: Attendees will discover ready-to-use AI Agents built with IBM technologies, learn how to adopt them quickly, and get ideas for how to build or customize their own agents to meet specific needs.
Victor Tepestra, Solution Architect Decision Optimization Practice Lead, IBM
Session: Agentrix—Decision Optimization Agents
Track: AI agents and tools
Q: Can you describe your current role and the kinds of work you do on a day-to-day basis? How does your work relate to the software you'll be presenting?
Victor: I'm a Solution Architect in TEL and a practice lead for Decision Optimization. I help clients successfully apply IBM's AI portfolio to tackle industry-sized decision optimization applications.
Q: Can you briefly describe the content you will be covering in your session/workshop?
Victor: The Decision Optimization (DO) Agent empowers business users to harness advanced optimization technologies to enhance operational performance. It intelligently interprets business challenges, aligns them with the appropriate optimization models, can modify constraints, and explore what-if scenarios. By simplifying access to sophisticated decision optimization capabilities, the DO Agent reduces reliance on operations research specialists and accelerates data-driven decision-making.
Q: How will attendees benefit from joining your session?
Victor: Discover how AI can be leveraged not only to assess the current state of your business but also to support smarter decision-making that drives greater efficiency and excellence.
Mike Mallo, Product Manager of Integrated Experience, IBM
Track: Automation
Q: Can you describe your current role and the kinds of work you do on a day-to-day basis? How does your work relate to the software you'll be presenting?
Mike: I am a product manager working on product integration and bringing new use cases together more value with less friction as customers more of our capabilities.
Q: Can you briefly describe the content you will be covering in your session/workshop?
Mike: I will be doing a demonstration of how we are unlocking new customer value across an integrated product experience.
Q: How will attendees benefit from joining your session?
Mike: Customers will see how we are embedding AI & intelligence into the core experience into each of the tools in our observability stack to give customers the edge and ability to operationalize resilience.
