By Chloe Zgheib posted 8 days ago

IBM THINK 2025 was all about putting AI to work in practical, scalable ways. The event was packed with announcements, demos, and real-world stories about how companies are leveraging IBM technology to solve real-world business problems. Here’s a quick look at some of the highlighted innovations:

IBM and Ferrari: Racing ahead with Data and AI

The keynote led by Arvind Krishna, IBM CEO and Chairman, showcased IBM’s partnership with Scuderia Ferrari HP. Aimed at revolutionizing how fans engage with Formula One, this partnership has launched a Ferrari app powered by IBM's watsonx AI. Using watsonx’s platform, the application can analyze and deliver real-time race data, post-race data, personalized insights, and historic content to millions of fans worldwide. This collaboration is about using data and AI to create a dynamic and interactive digital community for Ferrari's global fan base, and shows how IBM's technology can elevate fan engagementsetting a new standard for digital experiences in sports.

Scaling Infrastructure for AI

panel of enterprise experts led by Rob Thomas, IBM’s Senior Vice President of Software and Chief Commercial Officer, discussed a challenge facing businesses todaywhile AI is advancing rapidly, current enterprise infrastructure isn’t ready to keep pace. Integrating AI into operational systems is complex, requiring unified, scalable infrastructure to handle AI workloads securely and efficiently across fragmented environments. The industry is poised for unprecedented growth, and with the right infrastructure in place, businesses can unlock the full potential of this technology.

Watsonx Orchestrate and Agentic AI

Watsonx Orchestrate emerged as a centrepiece for IBM’s vision of agentic AI. With watsonx Orchestrate, companies can deploy and manage fleets of AI agents that can analyze information, automate workflows, connect tools, and coordinate multi-step business processes. The focus is on orchestrating these agents across various environments, making enterprise automation smarter and more adaptive.

Quantum Computing: Looking to the Future

IBM announced major progress in quantum computing, marking what it calls a new era of “quantum utility”. IBM's quantum systems have now demonstrated the ability to solve problems that classical computers can't simulate, such as complex molecule modeling and partnership with Japan's Fugaku supercomputer. Quantum computing was highlighted as a long-term game changer, with IBM continuing to invest in making quantum technology more accessible and relevant for enterprise use cases. The vision is to eventually combine quantum computing and AI into a unified approach for enterprise IT, which IBM calls generative computing.

Watsonx code Assistant: Modernizing Legacy Applications

IBM spotlighted watsonx code assistant for i, a tool that helps developers modernize legacy applications, especially those running on IBM i systems. By leveraging AI, this assistant accelerates code conversion and modernization, making it easier for businesses to update their infrastructure and keep pace with rapid technology changes.

HashiCorp Terraform and GitHub integration for IBM Turbonomic

A big step forward for cloud automation was announcing the integration between IBM Turbonomic, HashiCorp Terraform, and Github. This partnership lets organizations automate and optimize cloud resource management directly from their Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows. It also allows teams to connect infrastructure code with live deployments for smarter, code-driven optimization

Looking Ahead

IBM THINK 2025 showcased how agentic AI, automated workflows, data analyzation, smarter automation tools, and quantum computing are coming together to transform the way enterprises operate and innovate. Powered by IBM’s recent $150 billion investment, these technologies are paving the way for a new era of intelligent business transformation.
