Cloud Actions and Savings
Widgets display realized savings categorized by account, type, and entity type, as well as investments broken down by entity type.
Analysis:
Starting with the Savings by Account widget, we can quickly see the realized savings for each account over a 30-day period. There’s a noticeable increase in savings around February 27th, with the majority of those savings coming from the Turbonomic Quality Engineering account.
We can then drill down to observe exactly which Cloud Service Name is causing this savings.
Which we notice that 100% of that saving comes from GCP Compute Engine.
By examining the Savings by Action Type and Savings by Entity Type widgets, we can further break down the source of these savings. Most of the savings are attributed to delete actions, specifically targeting the Virtual Volume entity type. This indicates that the bulk of the savings resulted from deleting virtual volumes, with certain days showing spikes in savings from this action.
Turning to the Investments by Entity Type widget—which highlights the types of expenses Turbonomic is making to enhance efficiency—we observe a drop in investment starting around February 27th. This decline stabilizes shortly afterward.
Taken together, these trends suggest that the system has become more efficient. The reduction in investment, coupled with increased savings from deleted virtual volumes, implies that unnecessary virtual machine resources were removed, streamlining operations and reducing costs.
On Prem Actions
Widgets highlight on-premise executed actions, categorized by type, risk level, and category. A bar chart visualizes these actions over a selected time period, segmented by type and category, while a pie chart displays the overall distribution of actions across different types and categories.
Sustainable IT Liveboard - Private Cloud
Turbonomic SaaS reporting also provides carbon footprint related reportings. Widgets display the top energy-consuming clusters and physical machines, along with a monthly at-a-glance view of their carbon footprint. This liveboard also provides relatable comparisons, such as equivalent vehicle emissions or the number of phone charges.
