As of April 29, 2025, IBM offers enhancements to its Proactive Support service, giving clients more tools to maximize system uptime and performance.
Proactive Support leverages expert specialists to provide coordinated, preventative support across complex multi-vendor IT environments, focusing on high availability. The "Additional Options" for Proactive Support expand these capabilities to meet growing business needs, including specialized options for AIX and IBM i systems.
One key additional offering for IBM Power systems is the Proactive Support Health Check. These checks aim to:
-
Evaluate the system's overall health and resilience.
-
Confirm the status of environmental connections for optimal operation.
-
Identify potential problems proactively before they cause disruption.
Clients receive a remote Health Check report for eligible systems, summarizing the findings and providing actionable recommendations.
Using IBM tools, these Health Check services collect data to assess system parameters. The analysis identifies potential issues like interoperability problems, software bugs, security vulnerabilities, or hardware concerns. The detailed report evaluates current settings and suggests improvements, such as adopting best practices, implementing workarounds, or applying necessary fixes. This process helps bolster platform resilience, security, and stability, ultimately optimizing performance by addressing identified gaps and applying recommended solutions.
Specifically for AIX and IBM i environments, the Proactive Support Additional Options feature five distinct health checks:
-
Health Check for IBM i
-
Health Check for AIX
- Health Check for HMC (Hardware Management Console)
- Health Check for PowerHA
- Health Check for PowerVM
Each of the five Health Check options is considered a single review and focuses on one specific partition or product. Organizations can purchase multiple Health Checks according to their requirements. Please note that scheduling the analysis requires a minimum lead time of 30 days, unless a different timeframe is mutually agreed upon beforehand.
