Great New FlashSystem Resources

By BYRON GROSSNICKLE posted yesterday

Byron Grossnickle here from the Advanced Technology Group at IBM.  I just wanted to write a short blog about some fantastic Redbook resources recently published for FlashSystems.

As you may know, IBM has been on a journey to update our code base for Storage Virtualize, focusing on three pillars: ease of use, performance and security.  We have been on this journey for several years now to the point that we are retiring some of the old features and functions, such as Global Mirror, Metro Mirror, HyperSwap, clustering and others.  We have replaced them with functions that are much more robust and MUCH easier to use.

In the realm of new features, we have a new Redbook that focuses on Policy-based Replication and Policy-based HA.

This is a very helpful guide to help you with the new business continuity features of Storage Virtualize.

When it comes to performance:

We often get asked how to get the most performance out of our FlashSystems.  This Redbook will really help with that.

We have made a bold move by moving away from clustering to a model that puts multiple independent systems into a grid for management as well as data movement and reporting purposes.  This new Redbook will help you understand and get the most use out of FlashSystem grid.
