IBM continues to elevate enterprise data resilience with the latest release of IBM Storage Defender 2.0.17, a powerful evolution that redefining data protection and unified storage security. This release comes with exciting updates as follows:
Introducing the application-level recovery
In enterprise client environments, applications are made up of many connected parts such as databases, application servers, web servers, and other infrastructure elements, that collectively support critical business functions. These parts depend on each other, so they need to start and run in a specific order. Managing this properly helps keep everything running smoothly and avoids downtime. The application ensures that all associated recovery groups are restored in the correct order during the recovery process, helping to minimize downtime and reduce the risk of recovery failure.
In an application, recovery groups are organised in phases. Recovery groups can be distributed across multiple phases, where each phase depends on the previous phase. Within a phase, recovery groups are independent of each other.
Advantages of using IBM® Storage Defender®'s application model:
- Streamline disaster recovery operations.
- Ensure accurate sequencing of component restoration.
- Minimize downtime and operational disruption.
- Improve Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs).
- Enhance overall resilience against system failures.
