Distributed Tracing 3.6:
Support for OCP versions 4.14 and later. This is the first release of the Red Hat OpenShift Distributed Tracing Platform that is shipped only with the Red Hat OpenShift Distributed Tracing Platform and without the deprecated Red Hat OpenShift Distributed Tracing Platform (Jaeger).
- The Red Hat OpenShift Distributed Tracing Platform 3.6 is provided through the Tempo Operator 0.16.0.
- The Red Hat OpenShift Distributed Tracing Platform 3.6 is based on the open source Grafana Tempo 2.7.2.
New features:
- GCP Workload Identity Federation support for secure, short-lived token-based authentication.
- Azure Workload Identity Federation support for temporary access via Azure AD.
- AWS STS integration via CloudCredential Operator for dynamic, short-term AWS credentials.
Bug fixes:
- Per-tenant retention is now correctly configured in the TempoStack deployment.
- OAuth-proxy container now properly sets compute resources as defined in the TempoStack custom resource.
OpenTelemetry 3.6:
New features:
- GA features: Kafka Exporter, Attributes Processor, Resource Processor, Prometheus Receiver.
- TLS Support: Collector now reads TLS certificates in TSS2 format (TPM 2.0 spec).
- Auto Upgrade: OpenTelemetry Operator now auto-upgrades all Collector CRs on startup with retry logic on failure.
