Version 7.2 is available in three editions: Developer, Standard, and Advanced ... and on four operating systems: Windows, Linux, Linux on POWER BE, and Solaris. (The Solaris packages are also now simpler: we've consolidated the application types, and offer the packages for Solaris 64-bit and Solaris SPARC 64-bit for grid, Developer Edition, SDK, and client).

Version 7.2 is bursting with great new features ... and plenty of enhancements ... to make this the biggest and best release thus far! Don't miss out!

Key highlights for version 7.2:

  • New: host factory framework for cloud bursting ... leverage of the cloud! Provision hosts from cloud providers Amazon Web Services (AWS) or SoftLayer® to dynamically grow or shrink your cluster with a mix of on-premise and cloud compute hosts.
  • New: rolling upgrade ... upgrade with minimal cluster downtime and with no additional infrastructure: IBM Spectrum Symphony installs the appropriate binaries, and automatically applies the cluster configuration to the upgraded version.
  • Improved security ... provided through Kerberos enhancements, additional SSL server-client connections, loader controller support on Linux for Kerberos-enabled Microsoft SQL Server, read-only database access for reports using Oracle, and more!
  • Improved performance ... start, shut down, or restart your cluster faster! Use the common data replacement feature to enhance service performance!
  • Smarter ways to work with slot-based scheduling resource plans ... compare guaranteed slots to slot limits, or import or export plans as CSV files.
  • Enhanced multidimensional scheduling ... take advantage of selective reclaim, migrating a slot-based plan to a multidimensional scheduling plan, allocating resources with different allocation types, and setting limits on resource usage ... all for multidimensional scheduling!
  • A more robust IBM Spectrum Symphony multicluster experience ... now use the cluster management console to manage cluster participation and applications; configure session failover; enable task-level redirection; leverage user roles and access control enhancements; and enable Kerberos authentication as a secure solution.
  • Better and easier ways to manage your cluster and workload ... leverage resource reservations, use consumer level exclusive allocation so hosts can be shared among siblings, limit the task retries caused by infrastructure problems, configure task limits for a multi-task service (MTS), migrate SSM from one management host to another without losing any workload, and more.
You can now also deploy IBM Spectrum Symphony with Kubernetes and Docker containers ... saving time for cluster set-up!
  • Enhanced logging, debugging, and messages ... troubleshoot and debug errors better than ever before with updated logs and messages.
  • And more ... don't miss what's new and changed, and important information in the 7.2 release notes: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSZUMP_7.2.0/sym_kc/sym_kc_release_notes.html
