IBM Spectrum Scale 4.2.2 - What's new in Object

By Archive User posted Mon November 28, 2016 12:37 AM

Spectrum Scale 4.2.2 brings in following enhancements to the object protocol support:

  • Ability to enable unified access to existing filesets. Object access can now be enabled for the files that are stored in an existing fileset using the command "mmobj file-access link-fileset." Existing files can be objectized and accessed via object interface.

  • Object heatmap data tiering policy has been explained. Policies can be defined to place frequently accessed object data onto faster storage tier and move cold object data to slower tiers and eventually to tape.

  • Enhanced security by providing ability to establish a secure communication between the proxy server and the other backend servers. This is done by configuring secure communication in swift.conf as below-

  • mmobj config change --ccrfile swift.conf --section node_communication --property secure --value true

  • New object performance metrics have been added that the performance monitoring tool can return.
