IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8.0 SR8 FP30 (8.0.8.30) (Quarterly update) Released!

We are pleased to announce the general availability of IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8.0 SR8 FP30 (8.0.8.30) across all supported platforms. The binaries have been made available across all distribution sites as of August 14th, 2024. This release is based on Oracle's July’24 CPU update.

IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8.0 SR8 FP30 contains the following key updates in addition to security fixes and bug fixes:

• IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8 now contains FIPS 140-3 cryptography certified by U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is fully supported for production use across most platforms. • Security updates/features: (read more about the same here <<what’s new link of security documentation>>)

• The IBMXMLCryptoProvider security provider is now deprecated

• Change in the default TLS protocol behaviour when overriding the default SSL protocol

• Support added for the x25519 and x448 named elliptic curve groups to TLS

• IBMJCEPlus, IBMJCEPlusFIPS providers support MessageDigest.clone() operation

• RDMA implementation is removed, which was deprecated earlier.

• Features from the latest Eclipse OpenJ9 release, as listed in the Version 0.46.0 OpenJ9 user documentation.

Important Notice:

Discontinuation of IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 on selected platforms

The following platforms are now discontinued with IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 as communicated earlier:

• Linux on IBM Power Big Endian (BE) 32-bit

• Linux on IBM Power Big Endian (BE) 64-bit

IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 will be discontinued on the following platform reaching end of support:

• Linux on IBM Z 32-bit - effective May 2025

‘End of support’ in the above notice means that no release binaries or packages will be produced for the IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 on these platforms after the specified dates and no support will be provided (including interim fixes in support cases).
