Cloudability Cost and Utilization Reports - switching data source to V3 API

By Apptio Community Member posted Mon October 04, 2021 02:17 PM

Cloudability cost and utilization reports has switched the data source from the v2 API endpoint to v3. The v3 endpoint represents the current version of our public API and already backs Cloudability dashboards. While there is minimal functional impact on Cloudability users, this upgrade will significantly improve report rendering performance within the UI.
Functional impacts of this switch are:

Any saved report with a deprecated dimension (e.g., Instance_state, Terminated_instances) or deleted dimension/metric (e.g., a business dimension, business metric or account group), will return an error when executed.

To support improved report performance pagination has been made more dynamic. Pagination occurs when the total number of rows returned is greater than your rows-per-page selection. While navigation between pages remains straightforward in the UI, the dynamic pagination means the page position indicators have been removed.
V2 Behavior:

In V3 you will just see the dropdown menu to select the number of rows:

V2 Behavior:  You see page numbers and arrows to progress through the results.

In V3 you will simply use  the forward, backward arrows instead of the page numbers.

Deep link
s will not work.  With Version 3, as part of the performance improvement measures, you will no longer have the ability to navigate directly to a page deeper in the report. e.g., page 5 of 10. Additionally, you will not be able to bookmark a report link to directly navigate to that page.

The above V3 changes were implemented to provide large performance improvements in the Report API.
NOTE: These changes only apply to the Reports page UI and nothing changes to the public facing end points for your Cost reports.

Coming Soon: We are working on documentation describing how to consume the V3 API programmatically and will update Apptio Community when they are ready for consumption.
