Are You Leveraging the Latest DFSMShsm Enhancements?
7:30 AM with Robert Gensler
Come discover the latest DFSMShsm enhancements around cloud storage, usability, simplification, RAS, management class enhancements, minimizing CPU, performance, and constraint relief. There’s bound to be at least one new enhancement that’s a must have for your shop.
Integrating Cloud Objects in Batch Processing
8:45 AM with Andrew Wilt
Do you have objects in cloud object storage that you want to include in your batch processing? How about a need to put the results of nightly batch into the on-prem cloud so the CFO can have a pretty pdf to check in the morning? The GDKUTIL batch utility, part of base z/OS, can help you make that happen. This session will cover recent enhancements to the DFSMS GDKUTIL utility as well basics of it's usage and a demo!
In the Clouds With DFSMSdss
10:00 AM with Ernesto Figueroa
DFSMSdss just got a powerful upgrade! With the latest enhancements, we are harnessing z/OS Cloud Data Access (CDA) to take our transparent cloud tiering (TCT) backup solution to the next level. But that’s not all—we have also introduced a game-changing, storage vendor-agnostic direct-to-cloud solution. Now, clients without IBM disk storage can seamlessly back up their data straight to the cloud. The enhancements provide more flexibility, more choices, and more ways to simplify your storage strategy. This session will provide a deep dive into these latest enhancements, and one of the early direct-to-cloud sponsor users will highlight their use case and insights on how they leveraged this new solution.
Storage Management Simplification - SMS Like Never Before
1:15 PM with David Shackelford, Zahed Hossain, and Alexis Kapica
Come learn about the brand new z/OSMF Storage Management Plugin! IBM understands that zNextGen is rapidly joining the mainframe community and onboarding as quickly as the complex ISMF panels allow. The DFSMS team has been planning and building a creative solution, using industry standard technologies, to simplify storage management tasks, allow for faster onboarding, and provide a more intuitive storage management story with powerful capabilities. Come learn about our new solution and let us know how we can help your storage management story get even easier!
REST API for Unstructured (Object) Data on z/OS using OAM1
2:30 PM with Albert Dennes & Peter Sobik
Are you looking for an easy way to manage your unstructured (object) data on z/OS using industry standard protocols? OAM is adding support for the Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) API enabling you to easily store and retrieve OAM object data while continuing to use all of the OAM supported functionality. OAM objects stored through REST can be retrieved using the existing OSREQ (assembler) API and vice versa.
