Personalize Your Insight Flow by using Dashboard Bookmarks & Saved Views in Cognos Analytics 12.1.1

In 12.1.1, Cognos Analytics introduces two powerful ways to personalize and accelerate dashboard exploration: Bookmarks and Saved Views. These enhancements help users return to insights faster and reduce repetitive filtering.

Bookmarks are your quick-access starting points. They capture specific filter settings and active tabs so you can instantly jump back to a common scenario you rely on every day.

For example, if your team frequently analyzes Canada performance on the Revenue tab, you can create a bookmark in one click for all dashboard consumer to use. Whenever you activate it, the dashboard immediately opens in that configuration.

Saved Views, on the other hand, make dashboards truly personal. As you explore further, perhaps adding France to compare regions, you can save that customized view for next time.

Unlike bookmarks, which are reusable standards for any user, saved views are tied to your individual preferences. They ensure your dashboard view always opens in your preferred context.

So when should you use each?

  • Use Bookmarks when multiple users can benefit from a consistent analysis starting point

  • Use Saved Views when the priority is personal use

Together, they strike the perfect as Author can guide insight consumption while consumers enjoy autonomy and convenience.
