We just upgraded to ILMT 9.2.30 and need to know how to purge old data from the DB2 database.  We have data going back to 2017, and only want to retain 3 years of data.  The only info we could find was for ILMT 7.5 and the related links to IBM info no longer work.

    Hello,

It is not possible to remove historical data from the database.  Can you let us know why do you want to remove the historical data?

Is there an issue with the ILMT database size ?

    Thank you.

Yes, my DB2 Admin told me the database keeps growing so he asked if we can purge data.  Our sub-capacity agreement with IBM only requires we maintain 2 years of data, but I would like to retain 3 years of data anyway.  So why can't we purge old data?

Also, IBM has a purgedatabase command that supposedly can be run from the License Metric Tool command line interface.  It is mentioned in #2 in the following link:  https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/maintaining-ilmt-database

    2. Type the purgedatabase command into the License Metric Tool command-line interface. You can select the type and specify the age of the data that is to be removed. For more information about the command, see the related links section.

ll of the links IBM refers to with regard to this command no longer work.

    Hello Diane,

The link you shared with us is not relevant for ILMT 9.x version. The mentioned procedure was meant for the old ILMT 7.x which is no longer developed and not supported for many years now.

As I said in my previous update, it is not possible to remove the historical data from the database. There are some option to tune DB2 application database: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=environments-tuning-db2-application-database

There is also an option to shorten the retention period gradually to avoid problems with growing database size, as explained here:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=atip-shortening-retention-period-gradually-avoid-problems-growing-database-size

Furthermore, is it possible to tell us how large is the database currently and offer us some information about your environment (like number of endpoints) ?

    Thank you.
