IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT)

Dear Support,

My customer had installed long time ago a Bigfix/ILMT environment to monitor only i-series serveurs.

Now he is asking to move to ILMT lite solution to reduce day-to-day operations. What can I do to move from Bigfix/ILMT to ILMT lite without losing ILMT data ?

I guess remove Bigfix data source, then uninstall Bigfix.

Can you please confirm ?

Hello,

I understand, he was not using BigFix at all, since no BigFix agents were needed for iSeries. Please notice LMT Lite and LMT are the same servers but different configuration. I mean additional datasource for BigFix or disconnected agents was created.

In fact he will not able to downlad and upgrade LMT from BigFix console if he drop the BigFix server.

I've got further clarification. Moving from ILMT deployment with BigFix to ILMT Lite is possible, of course providing that the requirements for the ILMT Lite are fulfilled. Since customer is only managing iSeries servers, it makes sense to step out of BigFix as it brings little management capabilities in this case (customer will need to upgrade ILMT using the steps provided for the ILMT Lite scenario: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=version-upgrading-disconnected-scanners). In general, to migrate to ILMT Lite, customer needs to create disconnected data source (or, as in this case, reuse the existing one if present) to perform steps described in the documentation that allows to migrate the endpoints between the data sources: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/license-metric-tool?topic=computers-migrating-between-data-sources. As there are no endpoints to be migrated, then the procedure boils down to the removal of the BigFix data source for this specific customer.
