Good day, I need to understand more about a dummy record is created as "host" type as seen from the sam.computer_systems view in ILMT database. See sample screenshots.

    Using the following scenarios:

    1) IBM LPAR - ILMT endpoint is ONLY installed on the LPAR servers and they are reporting as virtual server in both BigFix Console and ILMT as expected. However the result from sam.computer_systems view showed a dummy record created with host type. How does ILMT know where to look up the host server HW information using this dummy record? This happens to all AIX LPAR servers where ILMT endpoint is not installed on the physical host server. See screenshot.

    2) IBM LPAR servers where ILMT agent is installed on the physical server. No dummy record is created since there is a computer record reference to the physical host server. The result from sam.computer_systems view has a record to that physical host server with host type. Which seems to work well in this case. See screenshot.

    3) For all the i86pc model type environment, regardless if a server is physical or virtual, the sam_computer_systems report shows all records as virtual type and then a dummy record is created as host type with NULL value to all column. Why it is? See screenshot

    4) VMWare virtual servers. Since the ESXI host information is discovered by VM Manager Tool and there is no computer record is created for the host server, sam_computer_systems results show a dummy record created as host type referenced back to that set of virtual machines. No screenshot provided at this point.

    5) Solaris SPAR environment where ILMT endpoint is installed on the LDOM, Global or local zone servers, the sam_computer_systems results show all servers are virtual type and a dummy record is created as host type.

It is totally confused how this dummy record as host type is created to reference back to its set of virtual servers and at the same time, physical servers are classified as virtual type. Unless an ILMT enpdoint installed on the physical server level an only seems to work well for some architecture type but not all.

Really need to understand how this dummy record as host type is created and how it is used with NULL value to every column in the record.

This question brought up from the ServiceNow integration as this dummy record is causing the integration not to work since this dummy record does not have host name or dns name information populated and unable to use this information to query the CMDB to find the physical host record in CMDB.
