We are excited to introduce new governance capabilities and enhanced APIs in the latest release of IBM Blueworks Live. These updates are designed to improve the quality of your Process Blueprints, enhance account management, and provide deeper insights into the history of your existing Blueprints.
Key features and benefits
1. Enhanced governance capabilities
- Mandatory approvals: Configure mandatory approvals for Blueprints prior to publication, ensuring enhanced control over the review and approval process.
- Customizable Process Applications: Set default Process Applications for governance at both the account and space levels.
- Automated re-approval: Schedule automated re-approvals of published Process Blueprints to support continuous improvement and compliance requirements.
2. New and enhanced APIs
- New user permission API: Modify user or user-group permissions within a space for enhanced security and facilitate bulk updates.
- Updated Blueprint retrieval API: Access detailed information about a specific Blueprint versions, helping you compare and track changes over time, providing valuable insights into the history and evolution of your blueprints.
Getting started with governance
The new governance features empower admins to enforce mandatory approvals across the entire account. Here’s how you can get started:
1. Enable governance: Admins can enable mandatory approvals, triggering an approval flow when an Editor publishes a Process Blueprint.
3. Space manager overrides: Admins can allow space managers to customize to override the governance settings and choose a different Process App for their space.
By default, all governance options are disabled.
Creating a governance Process App step-by-step guide:
1. Create a Process App in any space
2. Select Use this app for process governance
3. Specify Task Owners in the Workflow Tasks section and check an Approval Step
The Process App selected for governance is launched when an editor clicks on “Publish” for a Process Blueprint. Once the approval is successfully completed, the Process Blueprint is automatically published.
