Automation In The Printing Industry – What Are The Odds?

By Silver Hawak posted Sat June 19, 2021 03:49 AM

When product designs and packaging creation is concerned, the managers have to consider the lead time, delivery time, ensure optimized printing quality, meet the shipping deadline, and find out the lowest possible prices; whoa, that’s a long to-do list. However, these objectives are easiest to achieve when you control and optimize the printing process.

The manual printing processes are always prone to errors and hinder you from achieving the goals. At this point, printing automation seems to be the only choice as it’s a fully optimized and viable process. With this article, we are sharing more about automation in the printing industry!

Printing Automation & Its Importance

Printing automation is known to optimize the printing process by preventing repetitive tasks and eliminating human errors. With the automation of printing processes, the prerequisite settings are generated by the printing presses automatically. It simply means that you aren’t dependent on manual adjustments and press settings.

Automation can prevent errors because human errors can be caused even by the highly skilled and trained staff (the errors are mostly unintentional but the consequences are equally fatal). Even if the errors still occur with automated printing, the detection is easy since it records the entire printing process.

Secondly, it ensures the repetitive tasks are prevented as you can recall the settings that were previously used with a similar order. As a result, the new batch will be the same, so it’s time-efficient while reducing the risk of errors. To illustrate, it promises high-end quality, lesser waste, and efficient utilization of time.

The Real-Time Applications Of Printing Automation

With the increased popularity of the printing industry, we have seen the implication of printing automation, so let’s have a look at the real-time applications of printing automation, such as;

  • The first application is automated print pressure which ensures that there is no excessive pressure on the printing presses and plates. In addition, it ensures consistent quality when it comes down to the printing effects
  • Printing automation offers automated ink settings, the ink will be used in the right quantity and density, hence reduced waste and higher quality standards
  • MPS/AVT Presco systems are known as automatic pressure pre-setting and control. During the control stage, the pressure settings of print and anilox sleeves are measured and adjusted automatically. It helps create standardized yet transparent press settings and also provides feedback when errors occur
  • The auto teaches technology is another application of automated printing which teaches how the existing web path is utilized. The colors are registered automatically and there won’t be any interference, hence quick shifts in the tasks
