How do you monitor your RPAs?

Managing and monitoring daily RPAs may not be an easy task, with the advancement of automation of processes in companies more information needs to be monitored for decision making. Over those years, we have followed up with several projects and found the need to keep track of the processing of the RPAs in real-time, this has been an absolute necessity for companies to identify process improvements or in automation, help to anticipate problems, and mainly assist in decision making.

It is common to program the RPA to deliver reports with information from the processing during its execution, but for real-time monitoring is indicated to use IBM RPA Dashboard itself, with it you can use data from the processing collected by the RPA in configurable Dashboards.

We always guide to identifying the main indicators of the process when starting the project, as soon as the scope is defined. Soon the first version of automation will already have important data to build a Dashboard. It is important to highlight, that we can collect data at the business level (with process-specific information), and the scripting level (with information about the execution of certain RPA). Thus, you can keep track of the processing of each RPA (such as start and end of execution) and process information (such as the number of invoices processed).

To make clearer the possibilities and advantages of using the IBM RPA Dashboard, see the following case:

Imagine that a company intends to automate the Supplier Registration process, the scope of the project comes down to getting the data from the vendors of a spreadsheet, validating that the mandatory data is fulfilled and enrollment only those approved in the SAP system. With this scope, we can already assume some important indicators to follow up on a Dashboard, for example:

Based on the scope of the project, surely this information will be sufficient for the first version of the RPA. So, the process owner will already be able to keep track of the indicators in real-time and have insights for his next actions.

Anyway, it is important to highlight that process automation will always pass-through improvements and changes, so monitoring is imperative to absorb the best result of automation, seeking to prevent and anticipate changes.
