Hi, I'm Leslie, and I want to welcome you to my passion project!

        Leslie Chau
Director, Product Management - watsonx Orchestrate & Automation Foundation

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us! I wanted to share how I got involved with watsonx Orchestrate. Productivity has always been on my mind, even though I don't always think about it in those terms. I have kids, I'm accelerating my career, and I help my wife with her restaurant. So every day, it's a conversation around priorities and the endless to-do list.

I don't know about you, but I create a to-list for my weekend and all the things that need to get done, laundry, kids' soccer games, or that project I just haven't had time for. At the end of the weekend, I completed only a fraction of what I set out to do and start my work week already exhausted and burnt out. And the reality is all those things have to be done; there isn't enough time, nor do I enjoy folding laundry. Work has those same to-do's, which inspired me with Orchestrate. It's a different to-do list but still endless, from chasing someone at work for approval to pulling reports. Trust me, All of it matters, but it keeps me from engaging in the work that drives me and makes me productive, and I know I'm not the only one. These issues around productivity and to-do lists inspired me to create watsonx Orchestrate for myself and for the everyday person to be as productive as we can be.

To create Orchestrate, we wanted to hear from you and your pain points in the workplace, and not surprisingly, finding talent was one of the main pain points, so we started there. The process begins by creating the proper job descriptions to attract the best talent, managing the creation and distribution of job postings across multiple websites, and sourcing the best candidates. This entire process sounds like a long to-do list that burns us out throughout the week. Luckily, Orchestrate can handle creating a job description and managing the job posting with just a few clicks, freeing up more time for you to work on other things. A process that used to take hours away from your day and burn you out now can be done in a shorter time, with less back and forth between people and only a few clicks on your computer.

That sounds great, right? Well, It gets better because that is not the only thing that Orchestrate can do. Orchestrate has a large skills catalog that allows you to customize your digital employee to handle the work that is unique to you, when and where you need help. For example, As I am accelerating my career, I tend to have many meetings with different agendas and action items, so managing my day-to-day has become time-consuming. That distracts me from the type of work I like to spend time on. With Orchestrate, I can create the best availability in my calendar and attach all the relevant agendas and documents with just a few clicks, instead of spending hours managing and collecting action items. It might be a small thing, but it allows me to manage my day in a way that will enable me to focus on more impactful work and increase my productivity throughout the week.

My passion project, Orchestrate, was inspired by the daily hassle of having to do things and doing them without the burnout and confusion that we experience on a day-to-day basis. It was inspired by the thought that we should spend more time doing the type of work that fulfills us and makes us love our careers. Finally, it was inspired by each one of you that will hopefully join our mission to make work more enjoyable and fulfilling by letting Orchestrate take on the daily mundane tasks and allowing us to do more satisfying work.
