The latest releases of FileNet Content Manager 5.5.8 and Content Navigator 3.0.11 introduce a host of updates and enhancements to further enable efficient yet complete enterprise content management. The most obvious of these updates is in Content Navigator where we’ve introduced an entirely new and simplified search experience which we'll get to in a moment! With this latest release, FileNet Content Manager now offers:

  • A simple mechanism for managing user access via SCIM in the Cloud Pak for Business Automation and is on the roadmap for stand-alone FileNet.
  • New storage options and enhancements, improved administration and installation through new automations
  • Enhancements to containerized deployments to make managing content more efficient and effective for users and administrators alike.
In addition to the all-new, simple search experience in Content Navigator, users will notice improvements to general usability, and administrators will see performance and configuration updates to make tasks easier and more efficient. You can find a short list of updates at the end of this blog, and a complete list in the documentation.
With that said, we would like to introduce the new content-bases search experience!
Use simple or complex search terms in a single entry field to quickly navigate volumes of content
The latest release of IBM FileNet Content Manager brings a new, simplified search experience in Content Navigator. This update features a new, simplified user experience via a single entry field for simple or complex search terms while benefiting from the same powerful search functionality. Results feature hit highlighting to help users find important information efficiently, and include document summaries for clear context and more confident content navigation. Users can easily reference recent search terms and quickly navigate search results using filters such as document class, who/when modified, size, and format. Results are prioritized by relevancy to make locating the right content easier so that users can spend more time doing high-value work.  Users can also still benefit from advanced search capabilities and the classic UI for finer tuning of search parameters and results.
Below is a quick tour of the new, simplified search experience
