The July episode of Automation Exposé, set for Thursday, July 21 at 11 AM ET (Click here to RSVP), will take attendees on a deep dive into Decision Management to automate many aspects of a major North American bank.  James Taylor, CEO, and Ryan Trollip, CTO, of IBM Business Partner Decision Management Solutions (DMS) have designed and deployed IBM Operational Decision Manager in some unique and interesting ways at the bank and they have agreed to reveal some of their considerable secrets in this session, which is open to all Automation professionals who wish to expand their knowledge.

Metaphors often help me understand new technologies and the one that helps me best understand Decision Automation is DNA - short for deoxyribonucleic acid – the organic chemical found in all living things that contains the genetic instructions for the development and reproduction of all organisms.

While DNA is the backbone of all life, making sound business decisions – like “Do I approve this loan?” or “Do I pay this claim?” - is fundamental to any business organization. If you imagine the two strands that form DNA’s double helix as a business process and the base pairs that connect them as Yes and No, you’ve got a nifty biological model for mapping business rules.  Just as scientists are learning how to cure diseases by tweaking DNA, organizations like the bank featured in Automation Exposé, are improving customer service, reducing cost and accelerating outcomes by enhancing their automated decisions.

Ryan and James have designed and implemented a variety of decision management solutions at the bank, which offers banking, insurance, investment and wealth management services to more than 17 million clients.  This installment of the Automation Exposé series will continue the acclaimed guided deep dives into Best Practices and lessons learned by the leading architects of Automation, which have characterized the series.  I hope you’ll join us.
