    Hi All,
    Me again..... 
    Has anyone utilised/deployed the Maximo Email Listener via the MIF with any degree of success?
    What were the lessons learnt and or pitfalls and how did they ensure maximum processing success.

    I am assuming Fixed format ingestion via validating templates/forms is most successful, but has anyone deployed using free format text as an ingestion type?

    I have discovered a partner tech firm in Canada who have deployed a wepshere built processing tool over the top of the existing MEL and MIF elements to ensure more processing success ratios (but its not an IBM ratified solution).

    Keen to know how other folk have done this. we have a requirement to implement a solution where incoming data validity will not be within our control so am leaning more towards Fixed forms.

    Is the listener how people usually do it or do they do it via something else like Message broker?

    Hi Tom,

    Internally at BPD we use the Email listener for the service desk. If there is no SR number in the subject line, Maximo generates a service request and ties the subject line to the description, the body of the email to the long description. If there is an SR number (with ## ## around the sides in our case) it will create a new communication log entry for that SR. Any attachments on the emails will be brought in as attachments on the SR.

    Additionally, we have recently implemented a solution for an Australian Port to do the same thing for the Work Order object. I would need to confirm if this was a specific form template or if it was just free text.

    I forgot to also say that we deployed Incidents for email listener for an oil and gas producer. The solution interacts with exchange server, receives emails, moves emails to subfolders, and processes content and attachments.     Note: the solution evolved since this blog, no Java, only MIF, autoscript and JAR library.
