  • 1.  Is there a Simultaneous Access Alert In Maximo (EAM) or in MAS?

Is there a 'Simultaneous Access Alert' In Maximo (EAM) or in MAS like in other cloud applications like ServiceNow and Salesforce? Our users are trying to prevent getting the prompt "Record has been updated by another user". The use of Edit Mode doesn't seem solve the issue and may cause other issues. Is there an alert somewhere in the system that will let a user know that another user is active on the current record? That would be a useful alert. I hope this exists now in Maximo or exists in Maximo Application Suite.

    Hi Geoffrey,

unfortunately there is no such mechanism in either EAM or MAS Manage apps. It can be done using some customizations, but nothing out of the box.

Edit mode is intended to help prevent the multiple UI user scenario. There are some exceptions to that such as a person updating a WO while someone is processing a receipt against that WO since they would be updating the record in different apps. Also, if you have people in rapid succession lock a record you may need to enable the system property mxe.editmode.reloadCacheForEditButton. For performance purposes, we maintain a cache. But the way we inform the other JVMs to reload the cache can take 1-2 minutes to reload which means there's a slight time window where two different people can put it into edit mode simultaneously if they're on different JVMs.

I mentioned the UI session above because a lot of times, what people forget to look at are escalations, cron tasks, etc. that could be updating the record behind the scenes. I would also make sure you review any of those that could be updating the record and see if there tweaks that can be done to them in order to avoid leading to this issue.
