IBM Champion Spotlight: Amy Tatum

By Namitha K posted 6 hours ago

Meet Amy Tatum, the Technical Director of Starboard Consulting and an IBM Champion for three years running. With a passion for solving problems and helping others, Amy has made it her mission to give back to the technology community through advocacy, teaching, and sharing her expertise. Amy's favorite IBM product is Maximo, a powerful tool for managing work and assets that has been a game-changer for her clients. She's excited to explore the latest advancements in AI and ML and how they can enhance asset management programs- “It’s been a great tool for managing work and assets for a long time, and now with MAS it’s an even better tool. I’m excited to be learning new technologies and how to apply solutions to help our customers get the most out of their asset investments”.

When it comes to advocacy, Amy prefers community engagements and teaching. She loves sharing her knowledge with others and helping them solve problems. Her favorite type of advocacy is community engagements, as she finds it rewarding to connect with like-minded individuals. Amy's dedication to the technology community stems from her love for solving problems and helping others. She takes pride in her ability to make a positive impact on her clients' businesses and is always looking for new ways to improve their asset management strategies.

One accomplishment Amy is particularly proud of is the success of her webinars and online events. The feedback she received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive: “When we couldn’t travel for a couple of years, I did a lot of webinars and online events. When we started going back to conferences and events, I had random people walk up to me and say they recognized me as “the webinar lady”. Some said that watching our videos helped them figure out how to do something, and one even said that they watched them to prep for an interview – and they got the job!”. If Amy didn't work in her current career, her dream job would likely be in research and development. From her days studying power as an Electrical Engineering student at Georgia Tech through her early career in the utilities industry, she's always been fascinated by the potential of technology to change the world and is excited to see where the industry will go in the future.

As for watsonx and IBM's AI capabilities, Amy is eager to explore how these technologies can enhance asset management programs:

I’m looking forward to getting all our clients up and stable on MAS Manage so we can start looking at the next steps and leveraging AI/ML to better their asset management programs.”

Upcoming events on Amy's calendar include the Maximo Utility Working Group in September, where she'll be teaching attendees how to get the most out of Maximo. If you're interested in learning more about Maximo, AI, or asset management, be sure to check out Amy's sessions and connect with her online. With her expertise, passion for teaching, and dedication to the technology community, Amy Tatum is a true asset to the industry. We're thrilled to have her as an IBM Champion and look forward to seeing the amazing things she'll accomplish in the years to come.

  • Cats or dogs? Both, but right now dogs
  • Summer or winter? Summer
  • Morning or evening? Evening
  • eBook or paper book? eBook
