Announcing the availability of Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.3 Fix Pack

By Kim Woodbury posted Tue August 30, 2022 02:21 PM

On August 30, 2022 IBM released a number of fix packs to deliver a cumulative package of APAR fixes, updated currency support and to address security vulnerabilities.

The following updates have been delivered

Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.3
Maximo Scheduler 7.6.8.2
Maximo Linear 7.6.1.1

On September 23, IBM has released the remaining two fix packs for Spatial and Civil Infrastructure.   Any customers who have either of these products, or Maximo for Utilities currently deployed will need to wait until these are made available before applying the 7.6.1.3 fixpack above.

Maximo Spatial 7.6.1.1
Maximo Civil Infrastructure 7.6.3.3

Maximo 7.6.1.3 is intended to be the final fix pack delivered against the 7.6.1 stream.   End of Support has been announced for this product effective September 30, 2025. See IBM Announcement Letter #922-024.   IBM will continue to provide critical fixes, remediate security vulnerabilities, and provide runs-on support as needed for newer middleware and dependent components through the end of support.

Updates to currencies include support for Ubuntu 20.04 and runs-on support for Windows Server 2022, and support for the latest browsers including Firefox 88 and Safari 14.03.     Updated versions of Dojo (1.16), JDK (8.0.7.6) and BIRT 4.8 are now supported.  Security vulnerabilities with Log4j have also been addressed within this fixpack.  The Interim Feature Release that was made available in April 2022 included bundling of DB2 11.5 and Cognos 11.1.7 that continue to be fully supported.

Upgrade to Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) 4.8

Maximo Manage 8.3 uses BIRT version 4.8.0. To design your reports, use version 4.8 of the report designer tools for BIRT. Learn more about BIRT 4.8

Technical updates delivered with this fix pack

Functional fixes

Fixes for over 1100 APARs.

Bulk export feature is added to the integration framework

To export multiple batches of message data to an external system, you can use the new Bulk Data Export action in the External Systems application. When you use this feature, exports are processed in order based on the sequence that you specify for the publish channels.

Ability to use OAuth access standards

If you want to use an OAuth authentication service to provide secure delegated access to Maximo Manage data, you can configure OAuth access in the End Points application.  Learn more about configuring OAuth access

Migration Manager APIs

You can automate the Maximo Asset Management configuration migration pipeline with a new REST API interface for Migration Manager. You can use an external tool or command line to initiate source and target transfer that use passkeys for authentication.

Integration enhancements

Export batched or paged data by using the export capability of an integrated external system application. This enhancement improves performance by sharing memory demands across systems.  Learn more about bulk data exports.

Filter table data in the Object structure, External System, and web service library applications.

Customize HTTP, SOAP, and JMS endpoints by using automation scripting. You can process request and response headers from these endpoints.

Enhanced Kafka handler endpoints used to support more authentication schemes.

OAUTH

Improvements for HTTP and SOAP endpoints. You can use OAUTH for outbound authentication from HTTP and SOAP endpoints.

Roll Up Maintenance Costs

You can select the Roll Up Maintenance Costs action in the Assets application instead of running a Maintenance Cost Rollup Report to roll up maintenance costs for your assets. See Rolling up maintenance costs and Roll up maintenance costs before you upgrade to Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.3 or Maximo Manage 8.3 or later.   This functionality replaces the BIRT report that rolled up Asset Costs.

Upgrade to Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) 4.8

Maximo Manage 8.3 uses BIRT version 4.8.0. To design your reports, use version 4.8 of the report designer tools for BIRT. See Configure Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) 4.8 for IBM Maximo Manage 8.3.

Scheduler

Maximo Scheduler 7.6.8.2 delivers a rollup of fixes to address customer reported defects as well as security vulnerabilities. There are performance improvements included in this fix pack for scheduler as well as several customer reported enhancements. The ability to display additional resources at Graphical Work Week and to filter Top level Work Orders that are loaded into Graphical Assignment are now available.

Maximo Mobile

For customers who have Maximo Application Suite entitlement to support use of Maximo Mobile with 7.6.1.2+, there are updates to the zip file package that now deliver fixes and new capabilities.

If Maximo Mobile 8.8 was applied before applying 7.6.1.3, please refer to the Maximo Mobile installation steps found in the readme included in the Maximo Mobile package on Passport Advantage to enable new inventory counting functions.     The Maximo Mobile Inventory Counting application and the Maximo Asset Management Count Books setup application are now included to be applied as an update to 7.6.1.3.

The new Count Books application is used to select inventory for periodic counting and to record the results of physical counts.  Discrepancies can then be reconciled between expected and actual quantities. For more information, see Count Books application.

Hi Kim - do you have any extended functional details or demo videos on the Mobile Inventory count functionality? Will it work with 7.6.1.3?

I work with BPD Zenith and I have an interested client in Australia who is asking for an info pack.
Thanks Geoff
